Hannah Abrahamson, from Springfield, Ill. is the 2017 winner of the $500 Rick Van Horn Scholarship. Abrahamson played two years of high school tennis. In addition to school tennis, Abrahamson was active in USTA tennis, participating in USTA Junior Team Tennis and in USTA/Midwest Section tournaments. She also played in the Marian Wood Baird Team Cup competition.
Off the court, Abrahamson is on the Honor Roll and is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. She plans to attend Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. where she will play collegiate tennis and major in Criminal Justice with Professional Tennis Management.
This scholarship was established in 2007 in conjunction with a donor with the goal of rewarding young players with funding to advance their education and tennis interests. Each year, a $500 award is presented to one junior tennis player from the Section who has a passion to pursue work in the tennis industry.
