The Janesville Tennis Association provides youth tennis programming, along with social events, tournaments, and adult league play. The organization is responsible for maintaining Palmer Park tennis courts. The CTA and a local club have partnered to offer the Midwest Youth Team Tennis winter program. The CTA and club will continue to work together and offer a fall 2015 program, winter 2016 program, and summer 2016 program. The CTA held a physical education training in fall 2014 for Janesville elementary school teachers, and tennis was offered in the physical education classes this past spring. Approximately 15 former participants have moved through the program to play on their high school tennis and then come back as a coach for the CTA’s programs.
The association is seeking funds to expand its Youth Team Tennis programming. The sixth summer season just completed, a Winter session is already scheduled, and plans are underway for a Fall program, with a goal of attracting over 125 kids. Money raised will help the association maintain equipment, pay instructors and provide nutritional snacks to participants.
