News and updates on the site are handled through WordPress Posts, which appear automatically on the News page once published.

This guide will walk you through creating, editing, and managing blog posts, with a special focus on getting them to display correctly by:

  • Selecting the News category
  • Setting a featured image
  • Adding tags for filtering

🧭 Accessing the Posts Section

To get started:

  • Go to the WordPress dashboard
  • Navigate to Posts → All Posts

From here, you can view, edit, or delete existing posts, or click “Add Post” to write a new one.

➕ Creating a New Post

  1. Click “Add Post” to open the Gutenberg editor.
  2. Enter your Post Title at the top.
  3. Use the Gutenberg Blocks to build your content. You can add:
    • Paragraphs
    • Headings
    • Images
    • Lists
    • Embeds (YouTube, PDFs, etc.)

🏷️ Important Post Settings

✅ 1. Select the “News” Category

For the post to appear on the News page, you must assign it to the News category.

  • In the right sidebar, under “Categories,” check the box for News.

🖼️ 2. Set a Featured Image

The featured image is the thumbnail that shows up on the blog listing. Without this, the post may look incomplete.

  • In the sidebar, find “Featured Image”
  • Click “Set Featured Image” and choose or upload an image
  • Click “Set featured image” again to confirm

🧩 3. Add Tags

Tags help users filter content by topic. For example: Tournaments, Grants, Player Highlights, etc.

  • In the sidebar, find the “Tags” section
  • Enter relevant tags, separated by commas
  • You can reuse previous tags or create new ones

🛠️ Editing or Deleting Existing Posts

  1. Go to Posts → All Posts
  2. Hover over a post title to see the Edit, Quick Edit, Trash, and View options
  3. Click Edit to make content changes, or Trash to delete it

🧪 Preview and Publish

Before publishing:

  • Click “Preview” in the top-right to see how it looks on the site
  • Once everything is ready (title, content, News category, featured image, and tags), click “Publish”
