In Memoriam – Anne Krupp

Anne was born July 1, 1942, in Tiffin, Ohio, and spent much of her life sharing her love for family and the game of tennis. She worked as a teaching professional and gave nearly 20 years of volunteer service to the USTA/Midwest Section, where she became a tireless advocate for Special Olympics, Adaptive Tennis, and Wheelchair Tennis programs. Her work helped ensure that athletes of all abilities had a place on the court.

Beyond her contributions to tennis, Anne’s life was rooted in family. She and her husband, Tom, shared more than five decades of marriage. Together they raised their children, Michael and Lorie, and cherished the joys of grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Those who knew Anne remember her warmth, generosity, and unwavering belief in helping others succeed.

To honor her memory, the USTA/Midwest Tennis & Education Foundation, in partnership with Anne’s family and friends, established the Anne Krupp Memorial Scholarship. The award is presented annually to one or more USTA/Midwest tennis players or to an organization whose work reflects Anne’s spirit. Programs serving Special Olympics, Adaptive, or Wheelchair Tennis athletes are especially encouraged to apply, with recipients selected for their sportsmanship, inclusivity, and impact on the community.

The next application cycle for the scholarship opens February 15, 2025, through March 31, 2025. Beginning in 2026, applications will run annually from January 5 through March 31.

Anne’s legacy reminds us that the true spirit of tennis is not just about competition, it is about connection, opportunity, and joy. Through this memorial scholarship, her passion for the game and her compassion for others continue to inspire future generations.
